I have selected 3 different types of
hardware, which includes Lenovo ThinkPad x1 Carbon, Dell PowerEdge T30 and
Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus.

For the laptop, I customized some of the
functions to better suit the users, as most of them need the laptop mainly for
web development. For web developers, it is especially important for them to get
laptops with enough storage, RAM (Random Access Memory) and a good processor.

Firstly, for the storage, I chose the 512
GB Solid Disk Drive (SSD) instead of the 256GB ones because the higher the
speed of the SSD, the faster the computer boots and it will make accessing
application faster.

Secondly, for Random Access memory (RAM),
I chose 16GB instead of 8GB as a faster RAM can improve communication speed
with the processor and decrease load time. This would be beneficial as many prefer
to open several applications at once, such as in a text editor to check their
codes, graphics program for any visuals to load, IDE to develop the code and
more. With a higher RAM, users will be able to access these applications quickly
without the laptop freezing up.

Thirdly, the display is very important as
it allows them to get a better idea of how their website will look like.  I chose the 14.0″ FHD (1920×1080) IPS
Anti-Glare non-touch. This helps to make the display more accurate in terms of
color, contrast and details. Also, IPS allows wide angle viewing which means
that the color doesn’t change no matter what angle you are viewing from.

Lastly, it is important to choose a good
Central Processing Unit (CPU) as it handles every aspect of functioning that
the computer engages in. The processor speed strongly affects its overall speed
and a fast processor can run and perform more tasks faster. I chose the 7th
Generation Intel Core i7-7500U processor as compared to the 6th
Generation Intel core i5-6200U processor. This is because the i7 has better
capabilities than the i5. An example would be a better graphic processor, with
i7 using Intel HD graphics 620 and i5 using Intel HD graphics 520.

Also, i7 uses a larger cache of 4MB as
compared to i5’s 3MB. A larger cache is beneficial for multi-tasking,
multi-media performance and more, since background tasks will be ready for the
user when they switch the focus to another window.

In a nutshell, this laptop is very beneficial
for the staffs, especially for the 2 senior management employees, as they will
be out meeting clients a lot. With the laptop only weighing 1.13 KG and having a
maximum battery life of about 15.5 hours, it will be easy to carry around and employees
will not have to keep on charging their laptops. Also, the laptop comes with
the integrated fingerprint reader as part of its security feature. As this is a
business laptop, it is very useful as users are able to better secure the
laptop and prevent confidential information from being stolen.
