In the UK, it is against the law to own certain types of dogs. If you are caught with one of these dogs in the UK, you could be given a fine, which has no limits, and/or time in prison. If you dog is found to be not dangerous, it may be added to the Index of Exempted Dogs (IED). If you are able to keep the dog, it must be neutered and on a leash and muzzled when out in public. Owners of dogs on the Index of Exempted Dogs must have insurance against the dog injuring others. If your dog looks like a banned dog, the police may decide to take it and keep it in a kennel while waiting on a court date. During this time, you are not allowed to see your dog. You will be given the chance to prove that your dog is not a banned dog. I think the U.K should look again because the should not and I will tell you why. The Fila Brasileiro was first famous for its worth as a working dog, with the ability to work hard for a long time and an amazing ability to track. However, the breed is also famous for its short temper and forceful nature. They try to socialize with and train puppies of their breed to have a calmer behavior. They are only somewhat successful, which is the reason for including this dog on the forbidden list. The Fila Brasileiro is not only illegal within the UK, but also several other countries.
