It is a covenant between two lovers to remain loyal, faithful, and loving towards one another for the rest of their lives. My hopes for the future are to one day find my soul mate, get married, and begin a family. I hope to graduate from college, have a stable Job, and a reliable Income before getting married because I do not want finances to become a conflict In my marriage. Also, I would Like to be at least In my mold-twenties before there Is a ring on my finger.

I think it is important to have some life experience, personal growth, and self-knowledge before committing myself to someone else. In addition, I believe it is important to have the same values and morals in life as my partner because it will be essential in building a marriage and raising a family. Unfortunately, I do not have the expertise on any of these topics, but hopefully with a little time, education, and maturity, my time will come to meet this person, spend the rest of my life with him, and start a family. Ultimately, it takes both parties to make a marriage work. It takes an enormous amount of patience, understanding, trust, and willingness to resolve conflicts to make a marriage withstand the challenges that are bound to come. There are a few attributes In particular that I posses and believe I can contribute o a marriage: I am an accountable person and think that my wife will be able to count on me for anything, regardless of the situation. I am also responsible and value the importance of making moral decisions.

Also, I think I can be a respectful partner. It is important to me to be civil and polite to people, regardless if they are my husband or not. In addition, I think communication and strong listening skills are the most crucial aspects of a marriage. Without a solid line of communication a relationship will be weak and is bound to fail. I believe I posses these attributes today, but there are still several more that I would like to learn, to prepare myself for a successful marriage.

The following attributes of a grown-up are ones I would like to work on: First, I would Like to become more open minded and welcome people into my life with different thoughts and opinions. Being open minded, I will be able to expand my thoughts and become more flexible and tolerant In doing things differently. Second, I want to practice being committed to a partner. Society has established many theories regarding how to be a good spouse, but I believe it is important not to loose sight that marriage is a partnership and as a partner you have responsibility to ensure the marriage grows and flourishes.

I have a few conceptions of how to be a good partner: Be open and flexible in your roles as husband or wife, develop honest and open communication with one another, respect one another, don’t try to change each other, practice equality, practice individual freedom and personal growth, show affection and make time for each other. Being a good partner will further help create a foundation for marriage, your children’s future, and your own well being. In reality, I don’t think there is a right or wrong way o be a good partner.

Simply, it is important to follow your own heart to determine what being a good partner means to you and understand what is means to your spouse. Being a good partner is a growing process. Each day, their will be new things to learn as both spouses grow and mature. I look forward to the day that I find my princess charming, get married, and begin the rest of our lives together. Until that time comes, I hope to gain greater knowledge and understanding about both love and marriage to prepare me for this once in a lifetime experience.
