Answer:
The three infection control precautions include Airborne, Droplet and Contact Precautions. Airborne precautions are used for patients whose infections are spread throughout the air. Some examples include tuberculosis, chicken pox, measles etc. The PPE used for this precaution is an (N-95 mask) which the medical staff must be fitted for and gloves. Droplet precautions are used for patients whose infection is spread by typically large-particle droplets, such as the flu, mumps etc. The PPE used for this precaution is a surgical mask and gloves. Contact precautions are used for patients who are infected by an organism that is multidrug-resistant (MRDO). The PPE used for this precaution is a gown and gloves. It is important to follow infection control guidelines in order to prevent the spread of infection as well as protecting both patients and healthcare providers.

What principles of body mechanics are important to keep in mind when turning/positioning a patient or transferring them from the bed to a chair/wheelchair?  Why is it important to use proper body mechanics?

Answer:
There are a few principles of body mechanics one must keep in mind when turning/positioning a patient or transferring them from the bed to a chair/wheelchair. They include avoid twisting your body when performing a specific movement, keep the spine in alignment and back straight, spreading feet for a base of support, using leg muscles to help provide force for movement and performing a task at the appropriate height level. While maintaining balance when performing a task, it is important to use proper body mechanics to help prevent any type of strain on muscles, joints and ligaments.
