They also find out clues that may lead them to find the identity of “A” and Alison’s death. Therefore the theme of Pretty Little Liars is never trust a pretty girl with a secret. The nature of conflict in the novel is man versus man as well as man versus self.Spencer, Hanna, Aria, and Emily all have struggles with “A” which you assume is Alison. They are fighting against her to keep their friendship and personal secrets hidden.

They are also fighting with themselves. They are reminded about all the mistakes, trials, and secretes that they have tried to hide in their past. This is an emotional trial and hard for them as they try to figure out what to do personally. The setting of this novel takes place in Rosewood, Pennsylvania. Rosewood is a very rich town, and there are a lot of mansions and rich people living there. Rosewood is based off a town called Rosemont.

It’s a very affluent area in Radnor Township in an area known as the “Main Line” in Pennsylvania (outside of Philadelphia). This town is where the five girls have grown up to know each other in, and still lived there after Alison’s disappearance except for Aria. Aria Moved to Iceland because of her father’s job. The Author, Sara Shepard, writes this novel because she wanted to write a mystery series, and to show that your secrets are not always safe with who you think they are safe with.

She came up with some good secrets and a good story to go behind them. Sara is from the suburbs of Philadelphia. She shows how one perfect town can get turned around by little things that go wrong. These are reasons why the author wrote this novel.

I read this novel because my best friend has read it, and said it was good. Also I watch the T. V. Show every Wednesday night, and I missed a couple of them and wanted to know the full story, so I began reading the first book. The author uses details and gives off a good mystery. This book is very suspenseful with all the different situations that happen, and giving off different moods.

I would recommend teenage girls to read this novel.
