Learning disability

Dyslexia
A category reserve for individuals with a severe impairment in their abilty to readand spell.

Dysgraphia
is a learning disability that involves difficulty in handwriting.
Dyscalculia
is a development arithmetic disorder, is a learning diability that involves difficulty in math computation.
ADHD
Chidlren consistently show traits that are inattention, hyperactivity, and implusivity.
Mental Retardation
A condition with an onset before age 18 that involves low intelligence and difficulty in adapting to everday life.
Down Syndrome
an identified form of mental retardation, which geetically transmitted. usually have an extra chromosome.

Orthopedic Impairments
Involves in restricted movement or lack of control over movement due to muscle, bone, or joint problems.
Cerebal Palsy
is a disorder that involves a lack of muscular coordination, shaking, or unclear speech.
Epilepsy
A neurological disorder characterized by recurring sensorimotor attacks or movement convulsions.
Articulation Disorder
Are problems in pronouncing sounds correctly.
Voice disorder
Are reflected in speech that is hoarse, harsh, too loud, too high-pitched, or too low pitched.
Fluency Disorder
Often involves what is commonly called “stuttering.”
Language Disorder

Receptive Language

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Pervasive developmental disorders, range from the severe disorder labeled autistic disorder to milder disorder called Asperger syndrome.
Autistic Disorder
is a severe developmental autism spectrum disorder that has its onset in the first three years of life and includes deficiencies in social relationships and communication.

Asperger Synndrome
is a relatively mild autism in which the child has relatively good verbal language, milder nonverbal langauge problems, and restricted range for intrestsin relationship.
Emotional and behavioral
Consist of serious persistent problems that involve relationships, aggression, depression, fears associated with personal or school matters, and other inappropriate socioemotional characteristics.
Public Law 94-142
The Education for all handicapped Children Act, which required that all students with disabilities be given a free, appropratie education.
IDEA
Spell out broad mandates for services to all children with diabilities. These include evaluation and eligibility determination, appropriate education and an individualized education plan.

IEP
written statement that spells a program specifically tailored for the student with a disability. Related to the child’s capacity, specially constructed to meet the students needs as well as educational benefits.
Least Restictive Environment
This means a setting as similar as possible to the one in which children who do not have a disability re educated
Inclusion
Means educating a child with special educational needs full-time in the regular classroom.
Children who are gifted
Have above average intelligence and/or superior talent in some domain such as art, music, or matematcis.;
