In health care environment everyone needs to adopt rapidly and respond attentively to all challenges he or she may encounter. In every health care organization it consists of health care managers with a variety of titles they possess, such as administrator, supervisor and more; but all managers share common traits and goals.

As a manager, his day-to-day duties are accountable for the productivity, diversity, public scrutiny, confidentiality, customer expectation, safety, customer demand and participation to his employees. Considering that every health care manager’s responsibilities and duties may varies in every health care organization. As a manager he must understand the in and out of the business, and the involvement of his employees, and other stakeholders that directly or indirectly impact its success.

Stakeholders refer to patients, suppliers, competitors and institutions that are affected in one way or another by organization’s performance. Furthermore, patient is the number one who utilizes the goods and services produced by health care organizations. In addition to this day-to-day functions and obligations, overall as a health care manager he has to deal with this gargantuous task and concerns such as accountability, quality of work life, and diversity. Manager is accountable on his employees’ high performance outcome and high levels of personal satisfaction.

Part of manager’s role is to support high quality of work life so he will enable to encourage each individual to respect individual’s rights. Moreover, part of managerial role is valuing diversity. Diversity has big impact in today’s organizations. It can exist as negative irrational attitudes towards other individuals. In today’s workforce each organization is increasingly diverse not only in demographics but in cultures, tradition, and lifestyles. Managers have various levels in every health care organization.

They can be categorized as top managers, middle managers, and team leaders or supervisors. Top managers usually the futuristic thinker and highly competitive such as president, chief operating officer, and chief executive officer. Middle managers usually they report to top managers, learn how to become team-oriented, able to work well with others, and implement complex projects. Moreover, team leaders or supervisors usually they are in charge of non-managerial workers.

As a supervisor he will make sure that his team member’s performance is consistent with the plan of middle and top managers. In today’s health care organization it is indispensable that manager possesses high skills and roles to run an organization. Robert L. Katz states that managerial skills are categorized into three; these are technical, human, and conceptual. In technical skill, manager will apply his expertise in performing tasks. In human skill is indispensable when working with other people because manager will enable to work well in cooperation with other members.

Moreover, a conceptual skill is when managers have the ability to think analytically and solve ambiguous problems. Henry Mintzberg states that managerial roles are categorized into three; these are interpersonal roles, informational roles, and decisional roles. An interpersonal role is when mangers have interaction to his members inside and outside the work unit. An informational role is when manager is giving, receiving, and analyzing complex information.

In addition, a decisional role is when managers use information as the basis for his conclusions to solve his problems. Another important roles as a manager is to know how to communicate his people since communication is the lifeblood and essential in every organization. As a student of this class I really want to gain more knowledge, abilities and skills to become a successful manager. So, I will become the most valuable person in our organization. Conclusion In any organization, manager will experience multiple challenges, demands and customer expectations.

One of the best values that a manager should have is to know how to help and support his members instead of directing and giving them order most of the time. All health care managers role, regardless of their title, levels and organization settings will go through organizing, planning, controlling and leading to achieve goals of their organizations.
