The problem of genderinequality has always been a core for disputes for many centuries. There aremany people who think that man are pre-eminent over women, which is notadmitted by the majority of women. The discontent of such thoughts created asocial movement called feminism, which intends to make the rights of both sexesequal.

One of the earliest feminists was the famous British writer MaryWollstonecraft. She is the first woman who started protecting the rights of “theweak sex” in the Great Britain. Her most famous work “A Vindication of therights of woman” provides arguments in support of equality of both sexes.         From the beginning of thetext, Wollstonecraft says that women are not naturally inferior to men.

Thedifference between genders arose due to the distinct stereotypes of the mainlife skills in order to “survive”. From the early age girls are taught to gainlittle knowledge in order to look weak and soft. The beauty is said to be theirprimary and main possession. It would allow them to live a worthy life for atleast twenty years. Wollstonecraft proposed that women should be educated onthe same level as men, in order to be independent and in some way attractive tomen. In marriages beauty of a wife is a temporal thing that keeps husband’sinterest. By the time the husband gets use to see his wife and loses that pastflame of love. Wollstonecraft says that wife’s education and knowledge createpermanent attractiveness for husband.

Secondly, there is another prejudice that women and men have different cognitiveabilities. This presumption arose due to physical appearance inherited to eachgender. Because men usually look bigger and stronger than women, many peoplebelieve that their mental abilities are as well higher. Wollstonecraft saysthat appearance is not a reasonable thing for such judgements and refutes thatmen are naturally capable to learn more than women can.         Even now, such problems ofgender inequality still relevant, but by the gradual improvement of oursociety, human kind develop into such stage where such problems would notexist.
